Derrick O. Boateng
Photographer

Based in Ghana, Africa.

Derrick Ofosu Boateng’s digital portraits burst with saturated colors and playful motifs like fruit, balloons, and musical instruments that are representative of the vibrancy of Ghanaian culture. In contrast to the negative stereotypes of Africa still pervasive in Western media, Boateng’s photographs present a bright perspective of Ghana and the wider continent.

Shot and edited on an iPhone, Boateng’s works are distinguished by their meticulously staged compositions and bold Afropop-inspired color palette.

His images were used as cover art by the artist Common for his albums A Beautiful Revolution (Pt 1) (2020) and A Beautiful Revolution (Pt 2) (2021), and he partnered with Google Chrome in 2021 on a collection of browser themes.
